Flash O/D off light and transmission run erratic
Hi!! I have a problem with my Ranger 2006. The transmission start to change very erratic and the light of OD start to flashing. I scan and the codes are the following P0717, P0715 and P1500. I change the speed sensor and the problem fixed during three days , but today start again with the same problem. Anyone can help me ??!! |
It needs to go to the transmission shop. They're the only ones who can really diagnose/fix it for you. With these trucks, it's rarely a sensor/solenoid issue.

Welcome to the forum
OD light flashes when there is a transmission control problem You should post the code definitions with the codes since you already looked them up I assume P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction P0717 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal P1500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Did the speedometer stop working when you had P1500? I should if speed sensor was the problem On the drivers side of transmission is the large wiring harness connector for transmission sensors and solenoids. Unhook battery Unplug that connector and inspect it, looking for water intrusion If all looks OK plug it back in I assume codes were cleared What codes came back? As Fordzilla80 said, if you are asking the questions you are, .......... then you probably should have a shop look at it. |
Update
Hi!! thanks for all recommendations. I disconnected the plug and everything is fine but I found two cables in this plug that are cuter and another one is bypassed. All the code are resets but the Range still change shifts erratic. Here is the photos of the plug https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...d03229418.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...198cd7d66.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...0b930cf40.jpeg |
That looks like the transfer case shift motor connector, so your 2006 Ranger is a 4WD?
It is often modified if older shift motor is used with newer wiring or visa versa |
This plug is of transmission , my ranger is 2WD. Anyone know what is this wire red? |
Where is located Input Speed Sensor ? |
Deep inside the transmission, you need compete disassembly to get at it
Picture of it here: https://ww2-secure.justanswer.com/up...124735_tss.gif Read this post, you can test the wires for that sensor BEFORE pulling out the trans: https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivet...-5r55e-151870/ |
ok, I have 120.1 ohms. Another thing that I can check ? |
