Not sure if this is the correct forum?

My master clutch cylinder snapped on my 94 Ranger. I was wondering if this is an indication of something more serious going on with the clutch?

I don't want to spend the time, effort and money on replacing the master cylinder if something else is going inside the transmission. I don't think I want to put the energy into dropping the transmission and replacing the slave cylinder so why put energy into the master cylinder.

I did make the mistake of taking it to Canadian Tire about 2 years ago to have the slave cylinder replaced and it has been leaking ever since. Canadian Tire told me this was perfectly normal and the issue should resolve itself and wouldn't cover it on their warranty. I was able to get a brand new OEM slave out of them, but didn't want to pay a second time for a job that should have bee done right in the first place. A couple of weeks ago the slave did stop leaking (after 2 year) and then the push rod for the master snapped. I was wondering if these 2 issues could be related?

As you surmised a leak is not normal on any new part installed, the fact it stopped would indicate another problem, slave can't "self seal" itself.

Never seen a clutch push rod break.

The hose from master to slave has a "quick disconnect" fitting at the slave, these can come loose and that would "lock" the master since the fluid would have no where to go when you tried pushing the pedal down, that hose is sealed when disconnected.
If that happened and you pushed VERY hard on the pedal then maybe you could break the push rod, maybe.

Don't really see any way around it, leaky slave and broken push rod means dropping the trans and replace parts.
