Icon7 Found my clutch disengage problem

A while ago I mentioned my 83 Ranger clutch would not disengage. I had figured it was the hydraulics so I replaced both master and slave. Nothing. So I bled and rebled, tried all the things I could read, Nothing. So when I had some time I pulled out the tranny and while loosening the clutch I heard something clink. When done and pulling it off a small piece of one of the disk shock absorbing springs fell out. I had gotten caught between the plate and disk and kept it turning even when it was actually disengaged. The master/slave was fine, and funny thing was it never made a sound like something was rattling around or anything. Oh well, always something new to learn.
