can someone please inform me what kind of diff is in the front of a 2002 ranger!!!??? i may be blind and probly impasiant... but i cant find it...

Not 100%. It's a bastard diff.

The carrier is shorter than a D35, so no D35 carriers (like ARBs) work in the Ranger IFS D35. Even older (pre 97) Ranger TTB D35 gears do not interchange with the IFS D35. It's got "newer" 35 gears, but it's own weird carrier and housing.

yes for sure its 4x4.... just whanted to know what kinda of diff to shop for and know what to fix when it breaks

Yes D35 gears will work as long as they are standard cut gears.

 

It's a sort of hybrid D30/D35 carrier... like has been said... it's kind of strange. If you are looking for a locker though, I think either powertrax or aussie lockers has a lunchbox locker for them.

 

you seem pretty sure your going to hurt your front diff lol. whats done to the truck? im guessing its pretty stock...

well rocks happen... and not slaming into them... say if i go crawling, wich will happen, but it isnt built for it i just want to be prepared... plus knowlage doesnt hurt right... who knows i may just say screw it and straight axel it...

 

even with a lift its tough to bash that front diff. The ifs crossmember is right in front of it so you really need to smash that hard for it to push into the diff. The only way you could hit it is if u bottomed out with the right size rock right underneith it. SAS it

 

Yes and no. I meant the old ones (from the 97 and older TTB) were reverse, and as was stated the newer ones are standard cut.

 

with the RCD lift i have hit my diff a few times... its just hangin out down there

 

so with the rcd lift you cant run it if you have pulse vaccum hubs... so what modles have theese hubs... and is it worth it... probly so considering its a coil over instead of torsions... but thats just dumb knowlage....

 

98-00 ranger have the PVH system, just go to tellico4x4.com and order you some manual hubs.. they're moving away from the AVM to rugged ridge and those ones are bigger pieces of junk than the AVMs were... so be warned haha


other than that if you have 01+ you dont need to worry about the hubs, some year and up you need to buy smaller brake rotors.. beyond that i think thats alll the problems i know about.

 

well sounds like im good there... how extensive is the welding on the kit? if you know that is, dont know if you had it instaled at a shop or not....
