Seems to me like that would be the best option.

I'll give you some help....

If you mean only the outer ujoints and seals, it should not be too bad. Can be a PITA dealing with rust, but I did my friends in about an hour per side with nasty rust.
As for the two u joints on the pass side shaft, the inner can be a BIG PITA. Gotta take apart the diff but some have torched out the old ujoint and saved that effort.

You have the right idea though, if you do the inner pass side u joint you might as well do all the seals and u joints, especially if paying someone.

There, took about 3 min of my life but much better than stating hte obvious and blowing you off......

Next time if you want a long and drawn out response, try posting some useless gossip or kid stuff and you will be sure to get plenty of answers.....how dare you use this forum for technical stuff!

If you would have asked for some detailed help, or perhaps what kind of work is involved, maybe someone could have helped more.

Every dealer is probably going to vary a little bit, that is why it is best to call your local dealer if that is who you're using. It would take the same amount of time to call the dealer as it did to ask a bunch of guys on a forum what that dealer might charge.

I wasn't intending to be an ***, it just seems ***-backwards to ask a forum what your dealer would charge. That's all. Good luck.

well i stopped at ford today. total estimate, for the ujoints, axle seals and labor was $500. he said the labor would probly be a bit more though because of all the rust makes it difficult and more time consuming. which is exactly why i'm not doing this repair myself. i'd rather drop the tranny again....
