fill resevour with dot 3 brake fluid. Open bleeder and let drain. This partially fills the cyl. Have assistant slowly push the petal to the floor, open bleeder, let drain....but don't allow any air in. Repete cycle several times, just remember to check the fluid level. Once u go through like 3 cycles, have assistant slowly push in and out on the pedal, with 3 seconds between.....so.....kinda like this: push down, wait 3 sec, pull out, wait 3, pushin wait 3...etc....do that like 5 times. Then you feel how it feels.

If you've ever bled brakes....it's very very similar.

alright thanks. well, we tried it yesterday. it bleed quite a bit out. the old fluid was nasty, pure black! but it's been sitting for about 10, almost 11 months now so the battery is toast. we tried to start it and nothing happened. then we tried to jump it and it still wouldn't start. so i guess i need a new battery tacked onto the giant list of **** for the ranger. does it have to be running to bleed the the system? we bled it, but it still doesn't feel like theres any pressure in it. the clutch pedal drops to the floor with only about a pound of pressure applied.
