picking up an 8.8 today probably from a buddy. its the ranger 28 spline, im fine with it not being an expo axle cause ill never push the truck that hard. the axle currently has 3.08 gears and a full spool. when i strip it down the plan is for 4.88s or 4.56s (depends on what tire size i decide on) and mustang disks. my question is should i keep the spool or not? ive heard it can tear up rear ends and trannys on a street dd truck.. also that itll wear tires like crazy. if it does get pulled itll get replaced with a lunchbox locker which does the same thing as far as locking both wheels.. worth keeping the spool or save for the power driven lock rite?

 

It will eat your tires, I can't see why your tranny would care. I would not want it on a dd because it will make the truck very tail happy in slick conditions.

 

solved this on another forum but thanks haha. found out it was a mini spool, itll be ripped out and sold, replaced with a lock rite. and here she is..
