squeeky brakes
#2
Where's the squeak/squeal coming from? Front? rear? Either way, it probably means you need new pads (or shoes on the rear), and possibly new rotors (drums on the rear). I'm guessing it's the front, so R&R it as soon as possible. Maybe you can get by w/ just new pads. If it's squealing, it's either the "squeallers" on the pads letting you know they are shot, or if it doesn't have "squealers", the pads are down into the rivets. Or it could be something else. A keeper rusted off or broken allowing the pad to move, etc. Gotta pop the wheel and caliper to see what's amiss. My truck is 3/4" lug nuts and 14mm on the caliper bolts, even though everything i've read says the caliper bolts are 13mm. The big bolts (if you gotta get the rotors off are 15mm. Put some of that anti-brake squeal slobbery stuff on the backs of your new pads where they make contact w/ the calipers. Might save you tearing back into it.
