Gears for 33x12.5x15's
I have 33's and the Fabtech spindle lift for my '03 ranger, what gear ratio do you guys recommend I put in the rear end?
And what kind of power up grades? So I can retain a little power? |
what engine do you have, what transmission, what axle do u have, give us some info and i will respond back with what u will need to know, other then that, search, its been covered time and time again:scool:

I have the 3.0, I dont know the transmission other than it's just a stock automatic.
Side note: Do they make a shift kit for ranger transmission's? If so where? Estimated price? |
I would do 4.56.1 gears
As for performance mods: exhaust, Intake (thats debatable though), programmer (x cal II from rogueperformance.com), and under drive pulleys. |
3.0, auto, and 33's?
Definitely 4.56:1 gears. I noticed a great difference (on my 4.0) just from the xcal2 programmer. I never noticed much from a 2.5" flowmaster catback I had on my ranger (also 4.0). Best bang for the back (imo) is the programmer. Most of your "cold air" intakes on the ranger will actually draw air from under the hood instead of behind the headlight like the stock intake. It will probably increase intake temperatures in most conditions and leave the filter more exposed to water. I think volant would probably be the exception but I haven't used one. |
I would agree on 4.56's. I have 4.30's with 33x12.5's and a 4.0 and I'm happy with it.

with my old 3.0 auto i had 4.56. i had 285s which also are heavier than a 33x12.50 15. It it was a pleasure to drive once it was geared.
