they dont?
anyways, what kinda l/s do you have? if its like mine with the spider gears just pull out everything you dont need and weld that ***** up solid!
oops nvm, wont work on the C clip axle.. make it as strong as you can and still allow access to pull that center pin and the c clips out.
dont tack it here and there like some people, just make it a solid chunk of metal like a cannon ball! lol
just dont be too surprised if the poor little 28 spline 8.8 spits its guts out if your hard on it
i'll have a spool monday, going in the next weekend probably

Ford L/S has spider gears, but why not go No slip? I know they make a 28 spline, I used to have it!

With the ford trac-lock it can be welded up exactly as you would a ford open diff. I would say to go ahead and pull the s-spring out of it and then weld the hell out of the spiders and then weld the spiders right to the diff case. Then only part that may be tougher is welding the side gears to the case, I dont know exactly how far away they sit because of the clutch packs behind them.
As long as you know all the quams about driving a welded axle and their strengths and weaknesses then I see no reason why this question shouldn't be answered correctly. So yes, a factory ford traction-lok diff can be welded up just like the ford open diff although the carrier is weaker because there is less material to it because of the clutch packs, but I guess a few more welding rods can fix that. Theonly thing to be sure about when doing it as that the cross pin can slip back in and out with no problems and no interference.
