Hard clutch

Hello everyone. I have a question for anyone that might know. I have a 94 4.0 ranger 4x4 5 speed. The clutch works good accept it does always like to go in gear. I know the issue there. The other day I put a head on a 97 2wd 5 speed and I noticed his clutch was incredibly easy to push. So easy and smooth. Made me realize how hard my pedal is to push. Again!!!!, the only problem Im worried with is how hard it is to push. I don't know if it is a stock pressure plate or after market. Anyone able to answer this?

I have the same truck as you, but it is better because it is........RED, lol.

My clutch pedal is not that hard to push in, but harder than newer Ranger clutches

Yes, could be someone installed a different pressure plate with "racing" clutch, these don't last as long because they use softer material that gets sticky and grabs better, these do use stiffer springs on pressure plate.

Or you could have a restriction at master or slave requiring more force to pass fluid, next time you do the clutch replace master as well, not that much more, and you can bleed the system before installing.

If you have the tool you could release the quick disconnect and then hook it back up, those can restrict flow a bit.

thank you

Thank you!! I have thought about he after market clutch and racing clutch. The guy I bought it from nhas never done anything to the truck. It had a blown out radiator when I bought it and I got a better deal because I put it in myself. Ive built a lot of tranmissions and have done a number of clutch jobs but sadly I have not run into this before. I guess if I tear it apart I could find my answer but I figured Id ask anyway
