Im trying to find an 8.8 LS axle out of an 02+ fx4 w/ 4.10s. So far ive found one place that can get one and they guy wants $800+ for it!!? How much should i expect to pay? I was thinkin around $300-500?

I was going to buy a 03L2 rear axle for $250...i even put deposit down. Then they couldn't find the axle. They "lost" it. I worked out a score of deal with the junkyard. Didn't get hte axle.

The axle youre looking for is pretty hard to find. That's why I jumped on that one when i found out they had a 03L2. Your better off getting a 8.8 out of an explorer. They are 31 spline, 4.10, limited slip. Can be had for probably $200...more so towards $300 though.

 

yeah, explorer rear ends come with 31 spline axles, disk brakes, and a LS most of the time. Its a clutch pack LS but still going to be cheaper than a L2. All you need to do is weld on some spring perches and shock mounts.

 

Here is a stupid question: Where exactly do i weld the spring perches on top of the explorer axel? Like a certain measument?

 

exactly on top of the perches on the bottom of the axle...
