You want to remove the 4x4 components, to lower the truck before you buy a new one before the next snow fall? Are you planning on trading or selling your current truck?

So you are going to take a two year old vehicle that is worth however much money. Remove about $2000 of that value and then spend another $2000 to make it a lowered 2wd truck? When you would really be better off trading it in for a 2010 xlt which will have a coil spring front end which is much easier to lower and it will have disc brakes all around as well as traction control. You could get a loaded XLT with a manual transmission for about $19k

its not like i was dead set on doing this it was only a question. i have never heard of a lowerd 4x4 but if it can be done than that is perfect. As for payments its paid off. i dont see why everyone is so uptight about this i could see mabey if i was dead set on doing it but i was just asking what my options were so i could make a informed decesion later.
I think that if i can lower it 4 inches with the 4x4 well that would be just fine.

The frustraion probably comes from there being far too many post about how to convert a 2wd to a 4x4 and vice versa.
What it pretty much boils down to is that if you don't already know what it will entail then you don't have the knowledge to make it cost effect to do the work yourself. Hence you will be told to just buy the vehicle with the drivetrain you want.
