help! shifting very hard!
 
ok i just got done cleaning my throttle body. used carb cleaner and MAF sensor cleaner if that even matters. it runs no different but when i took it for a test drive its now shifted HARD and jerking. but only when it shifts. high rpms or low it doesnt matter. so whats up? i gotta have this truck for school in 2 weeks so its not gonna be gotta if im loosing a tranny. and im not sure if the transmission fluids ever been changed. no idea. got 102 thousand on it.

Did you take it off of the intake manifold to clean it?

no. all i did was take it off my k&n intake tube. but it runs fine

I'm not sure about your model but i know on the newer rangers are equiped with adaptive learning strategy which is in the computer. If your ranger has this you disconnect the battery for a few mins so it can reset, or relearn. My Ranger had some shifting issues and this fixed it.

It is your MAF sensor. I can guarantee it...... I disconnected mine once and drove around with it off. My motor went haywire and it was shifting SUPER hard. Try cleaning it better/replacing it.
