high speed vibration
high speed vibration
A few weeks back I post about a high speed (90 mph) clunking.
I replaced the u joints tires and shocks
The clunk went away but I could still feel a slight vibration at 80
Then this morning when I hit 80 it came back
It is a 2008 2wd automatic ranger with a 4 banger for the motor
It happened at 80 holding a constant speed
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you
Randy

A suggestion from my own experience. The drive shaft may be "out of phase" ie vibration, disconnect driveshaft, turn it 90 degrees at diff yoke, and mark with a felt pen so you don't forget where you turned it. Your drive shaft may have weights welded onto it look for them.. Jack rear of truck to clear wheels and run engine with tranny in gear, vibration will be more noticible at top gear and a bit higher rpm. View drive shaft watching for "whip"' Be very careful, have a helper. If you see vibration, you can use hose clamps around drive shaft to balance it. Some of the older Haynes Manuals tell how to check drive shaft for balance, but I suspect Ranger forum members have solved this problem . I had this issue with a 2 piece drive shaft with a steady bearing, took a while to fix, but the internet and Google was a godsend!!
