Ahhhh....lovely clutch problems...HELP!!!
Hey ya'll.
Well today after work, pushed in the cluch to start it, started it, and threw it in neutral, let it idle, and sat while I talked on the cell. Well, while on the phone, I played with the pedal and I noticed ALOT of freeplay in the clutch pedal....like 2.5"-4" of new "nothing" in my clutch pedal in the top end of travel. I've noticed over the past couple months, that when I let go of the clutch(lift up on leg) when I shift, the pedal would stop, then push back at me....almost like it's stuck .250 inch down, then comes up...like it's jammed almost.
Well, it's still drivable. But a pain because I stalled it 2 times on my 20 minute drive home...VERY embarrasing for a MannyTrannyMan4Life member.
There's no clutch slippage...Just a REALLY short disengagement travel on the clutch. I'd say there's pressure in 60% of what used to be there. Now I've heard that we Ranger owners have sh*tty slave cylinders...Maybe that?? Maybe I need to suck out the old fluid, throw in some new, and bleed it??? I don't think I need a clutch job...it only has 44k and careful driving.
Help Please!!!

Just got done doing mine last night. If you DIY, I would reccomend renting a trans jack. Would make it easier for sure. I rigged up a cradle on my floor jack, but ran out of travel. Could have used another 2 or 3 inches. Pilot bearing was a bixch. I have to disagree somewhat with the opinion that you should replace the cluch though. My truck has over 150,xxx(mostly hyway) miles on it. The freakin clutch disk had about as much material left on it as the new one had, and the flywheel was perfect. Because of the miles, I replaced anyway, but in no way did I have to. BTW, I got a LUK kit through Ebay for $245 shipped.

SOLODOS, I meant to ask you, how much pedal travel do you have with the new clutch? I was unable to go thru the adjustment procedure steps that come with the clutch. Didn't have access to a press so I just put it in and crossed my fingers. Now, I only am off the floor about an inch and the clutch is engaging. Do you know if there is another adjustment somewhere, like for the pedal position only? I guess I would get used to it, but it does engage quick the way it is now.
Apologize for hyjacking the thread.
