How many quarts ATF for Flush

I am about to get my trans flushed out, and I got 10 quarts because that is what its called for. I plan on taking it to Ford to get it done. When I called the dealer they said I needed 14 quarts? Is this true? Cause if so I need to order 4 more quarts. I assumed 10 was enough?? Thanks

The extra 4 quarts are probably needed to replace the ATF that is in the torque converter.

OR 4x4

10 qts is for the entire tranny including the torque converter. maybe the extra 4 quarts is for the flush. ive been selling 10 qts to people and i havent heard anything back.

When I did my flush I used 12 quarts. I was just a waste factor in the flush process. Its damn near impossible to get exactly 10 out when your filling it as you go... thats for a driveway flush though, i dont know what kind of machines places use...

Well just got off the phone with ford and they are saying when you completely flush the system it takes 14 quarts to flush out and the other 4 quarts are for the torque converter.

Thats weird, because I assumed it took 10 with the torque converter. Guess I'll just order the other 4 then.
