Hubs wont lock in
 

My girlfriend 81 custom delux's hubs will not lock in they feel fine however with tonight as an example when backing down a friend drive way with poor judgment of spacing side to side and find our selves in a ditch the rear tire spins as the front drive shaft sipns and the front wheels do not move, now for the questin is it that the hubs may of been installed wrong buy the previous owner? One hub's free and lock positions and upside down. Or is maybe the front axle some how bad? Which for the record there were no syrange sounds. Thanks for your help it would be nice to figur out what to do so she doesnt find her self up a stream without a paddle.
