Wow, that does suck. How the heck are you supposed to get parts?

Try this number 216-688-8300 ext 500 (shifter tech support)

or 216-688-8300 ext 264. That's the product manager for Hurst shifters. Tell him your a loyal customer who just wants to fix his shifter. Mention that if you can't fix then you will announce this problem to the whole Ranger community.

You're right, looks like Mr. Gasket Company sold Hurst to B&M. Sorry, but none of my numbers will work. The only thing to do is see if B&M will supply you with a parts vendor list. They have to be selling parts to someone.

You are talking about the thin rubber seal that joins the Hurst base to the shift cup right?

I called B&M, and it seems like there have been a few issues with the Hurst seal going bad. They apparently outsource that part of the shifter, so they do not carry the part. Rather than mess with trying to fix that part, they will send you a whole new shifter if yours is less than a year old and you have the receipt. I would ask them to ship the shifter first, so you don't have to yank out your shifter and wait. Call the 818-483-1366 number and ask for Drew. Hope it works out for ya.

Try calling the company you ordered the Hurst from, and ask for a reprint on the receipt. If it's a good company, they should be able to do it with no problems.

You could also try using an RTP gasket compound to make a seal, since the original one is quite thin. Just don't use anything that is adhesive or permanent.
