The infamous rattle

2001 Ford Ranger edge
3.0 v-6
Std. 5spd tranny
2-wd
all stock

Hey all, first post here and i'm trying to figure out what it is that is making this horrible rattle. here are the symptoms:

Rattles at an idle fairly consistently.
Rattles when the ac condenser clutch engages.
Rattles when i take off from a stop.
Rattles when I depress the clutch.

What could this be, I have crawled under the truck to listen and it sounds like it may be coming from the tranny. I originally thought it might be a throwout bearing but now it rattles when i depress the clutch. Dad says to turn the radio up and drive it till she blows then fix it. I'm sick of the rattle though.

Any suggestions?

Catylitic converter heat shield? That is a classic ford rattle but it is more common in older 80's and 90's vehicles.

I would check any heat shields or skid plates and make sure there on tight.
