tranny back in truck, still some issues

well today i got my tranny back in my truck. however there are a few problems with it.

first bieng switching gears is still kind of rough, they can all engage but they all still feel kind of notchy. (when i put the shifter back in it leans to the left a little, but im pretty sure its supposed to be straight and aligned with the transmission). might this be due to the transmission bieng new and bieng tight?

second is when i push the clutch pedal in, it begins grabbing as soon as i start letting it out. ive bled the hydraulic lines, but that didnt change the engage point.

i drove it around the block, it can shift, not great but still possible, reverse doesnt grind at all, and goes in fairly easy (compared to what it was doing before the repairs).

Did you change the slave cylinder out while you had the tranny out?

Anytime you have the tranny out of a Ranger you might as well change the slave cylinder out because they are known to go out. I learned the hard way as well.

is a faulty slave cylinder a reason for the late disengagement? before the repair work the clutch would disengage normally (somewhere before the end of the pedal movement). theres always bleeding the system again, but im pretty sure ive done that enough to where theres no air in it.

#1..

why'd u need to drop the trans in the first place?? what were your symptoms?

what'd you change?

a low grab is a GREAT clue that the slave is fubared. low grab, no disengagement of the clutch, hard to shift....those are ALL symptoms of a bad slave and/or a bad master.

i pulled it out because the truck was having a very hard time shifting. i would have to turn the engine off just to get it into 1st/reverse. (rarely could i get into gear with the engine running, and reverse always grinded). after that, when i tried to shift into any higher gear, i had to match the engine RPM to the gear just to get it to go in (with the pedal fully pushed in). so i bought a transmission rebuild kit (MRK100211 from drivetrain.com) and a set of syncros. i know the syncros helped because reverse doesnt grind anymore.

ya....drop it again and swap that slave. it's a $70 tops part that should never not get changed when you drop the trans. and if you go local...get a lifetime warranty, so you'll never put that $70ish out everytime.

ok, so i got the slave swapped out. honestly it didnt really make much of a difference with the release/engagement position. and when you push the pedal down, for the first inch or two there isnt any resistance (it still comes all the way back up)
