Don't know if these are connected but. . . . I have backed up (2 times now) and i hear and feel this horrible popping coming from my feet (around the transmission). And now i have noticed some really dark fluid dripping from the back of the transmission (where the drive shaft goes into the transmission). I would assume that this is transmission fluid, but it's really dark (kinda looks like oil). Can anybody gimme some ideas on this???

 

How many miles are on the truck?

When was the last time you checked the fluid level?....and how is it..
(make sure you read the dipstick and it's up to temp)

...assuming this is an Auto

 

42000 miles. Fluid level is good.
