Tranny on its way out..........

Ok, my '93 XLT 2wd transmission is on its way out. The truck has about 233,000 miles, 4.0 soc i believe. My question is do I ahev the stock transmission rebuilt or do i put something completely different in? I'm on a tight budget and transmission work is one thing i dont have the tech knowledge or tools to do. I've been given a quote of $1,200.00 to have my stoc trans rebuilt.

Ideas, suggestions, comments, condolences?

if you get it rebuilt, make sure its a good shop and make sure they offer a Warranty. My friend just got his rebuilt and it came with a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty

Definitely make sure you have a warranty. I got mine rebuilt and it went out again not too long after, but they didn't offer a warranty. I went somewhere else the second time on a few recommendations and they offered me a 1 year warranty. I haven't had any trouble with it since.
