bleeding clutch
ok, I searched forums and looked in my book. I know I am prob missing something simple here, but I pull out the black plug. I top the reservoir and put cp back on. I open the bleeder valve til flow stops(as per book). I close valve. I then depress clutch. I open valve til I get stream w no air. I close valve. I let off clutch. I repeat these steps and keep filling the reservoir. Nothing. This doesn't need to be powered on does it?
The clutch now has no resistance after doing the clutch to the floor and open valve maybe 10 times. Any hints??

ok thats the way the book tells you to do it. I need to know, what did you add to the system, a slave cylinder or a master cyiinder. You may have to take the clutch master cylinder off and out of the truck and bench bleed it. I did that to my truck and well it took only one time for me to bleed the whole system while when I tried it in the truck I bought one of those bleeding tools and bleed the thing for days with nothing working. So pull it out. You have to disattach it from the transmission (unplug that black line) then under whats holding the master cylinder to the clutch pedal (should be able to figure it out pretty easy) and its just one bolt holding the resivor on. Then take it out and bleed it on a bench. You don't need your old slave clyinder to do it either. Just where the end that plugs into the transmission you should see that you can push a little white thing in and thats all you have to do. Just pump it by hand and then push that in and you should be all set, just make sure that the master cylinder is upside down.

the hydro system on these trucks is a "self bleeding" system
all you need to do is fill the master then open the bleeder screw and let it gravity bleed for a few minutes (do not let the master run dry) then close the bleeder screw and simply pump the pedal 40-50 times. the first couple of pumps you may have to help the pedal back to the top. and thats it.
you dont have to move anything or unbolt the master from the firewall.

well, I took out the master and it was wrapped with electrical tape and basically came apart in my hands. I got a hold of a new one that seems to be built pretty well, I temped in and didn't gravity bleed the stem again. I tried it just to try it and it ddn't dod anything. Ran out of time to mess with it tonite, but am gonna pull it and charge it a bit and gravity bleed it. I think I misunderstood your post earlier but I think I have it now. Will update. I really appreciate the info tho.

ok, I think I'm missing something. I got the new master cylinder, temped it in and gravity bled with no results. So I pulled it out and am trying to do the bench bleed. The white thing you said to push in.. do you mean the spring loaded piece in the center in the end of the line that quic connects to tranny? Also, master is upside down, should reservoir be above master when I do this? When I push in that spring loaded white piece, fluid goes everywhere. I'm thinking I should turn the master upside down and pump it a bunch of times and just reconnect it to maintain the vacuum, I'll wait to do my next step til I hear some from ya.. Thanks again, I owe you guys a couple beers if I get this ting working

Yes you push in the white plug in the end of the line at the same time you depress the master cyl. plunger.Then release the line plug before letting out the master cyl plunger.
The reservoir must be higher than the master cylinder.
The master cylinder must be upside down ( the lines on top , Plunger facing the floor)
So it's depress plug
depress plunger
release plug
release plunger.
You'll need either a bench vise or three hands to do it.

so, i just took an idiot test and passed
ok, got pressure!!!
Back to my original problem tho. Sometimes will go into gear but usually have to wait 5 secs or so before clutch will engage. Am thinking slave again, but am gonna bleed the clutch again tomorrow andgo from there. Now, that sound you hear is meputting up my tools tonite and me opening a beer. Thanks all and will let ya know what happens
