Every man for himself, but I know the electronic crap saved my life and others some other idots atleast once in Denver, going down the highway at 85mph, 3 lanes of traffic coming over a hill cars parked in the center lane(ran over a dog). Cars right beside me was coming in my lane so I hit the ditch and just stood on the brakes, came within probably 20 feet from hitting the people in the middle lane. I know if there was no antilock brakes I would of been rolling down the ditch for sure...

Well I don't think he needs to pull the system. Its not like it is detrimental to the truck or causing other long term problems. With the fuse pulled, the ABS is dead and thats it. There is no reason to pull the components out unless you feel you need a new challenge.
As far as it being a good idea, no it clearly is not. A functioning ABS system for on-road use is far superior to no ABS. However if the dang thing doesn't work anyway, then you aren't really changing much.
For people who make comparisons, also keep in mind the tires you have on your truck will make a vast difference in braking performance.
