i did it!

i went out and purchased some 4.56 gears i wasnt going to, but going 60mph is not my thing especially at 3300rpm i average now about 19mpg, if that goes down o well hopefully ill be able to haul my bike around! how long should the install take? at the same time i am putting some new leaf springs on as well could it take all day? does the rearend hve to come out or can it be left in? just wondering what would be the best case scenario.

with 4.56 are u putting on 35's? u would easily be able to clear them with the 6" skyjacker u have on the truck. i bet it looks really goofy with the 32's. i got 31's on stock suspension. and ya gears are gonna be an all day job if u havent done it before.

he wont be able to clear 35's with a skyjacker 6" lift....look at his signature....his truck is 2wd...........yours is 4wd and can clear 31's stock...his can't.....

35's on your truck will be EXTREMELY tight....there will be hardly no room for flex.........i have 35's on my 97 4x4 with a 6" superlift kit and a body lift and i wouldn't go any bigger because they would hit, rub, and tear stuff up on any minor bump...

Since you are putting in new leaf springs, it would be easier to change gears with the axle out. You have to disconnect it to put the springs in anyway.

have you done gears before? do you know how to set them up properly? do you have the special tools to measure pinion depth and backspacing? if not find someone who does and has done it before, or take it to a good shop to get the gears installed. setting up gears is more precise than rebuilding an engine.
