M5OD-R1 Manual Transmission

Hello everyone,
. I'm looking for a little advice. I have a 1997 Mazda B2300 with 5 speed manual transmission; I just changed the transmission fluid using Mercon V fluid which was suggested on every site that I checked. Tranny had no problems before the change but after the change I'm having some issues. While driving it shifts great, no problems at all; BUT, now when I'm coming to a stop and downshift to 2nd gear it starts to grind a little bit and I have to pause before trying 2nd gear again. It is also grinding a little bit when I stop and put it in reverse. Also when I'm just sitting there and not moving it's a little hard just going through the gears. Did I stir up some sludge while changing the fluid and it's messing with my synchronizers and should I do another fluid change to try and wash away anything that may be causing this? Keep in mind now that it is changing gears with no problems while driving; just when I'm doing the downshift into 2nd and sometimes while going down to 1st while coming to a stop or slowing down to take a turn and stopping to go in reverse are the issues. PLEASE HELP!

Have you recently put a clutch in it? I know these drivetrains are picky about having self adjusters. I didn't use one and I have these symptoms religiously. However yes it is very possible the clean fluid has disturbed contaminates causing them to stir. And the syncros in these trans are picky. Also while changing your fluid it was very possible to bump the clutch line going in. And although it's a ball valve type that is supposed to seal it could of sucked air. And the clutch having air causes all sorts of weird problems

I changed clutch about 3 years ago; where is the clutch line and if it did suck in air should I bleed the slave cylinder?

The clutch line is on the driver side of the trans up by the bell housing. And the bleeder is right above it. The bleeder is an 8mm. And it bleeds like bleeding brakes. Make sure you open the resivour and pull the bladder out. Keep it full you suck it dry and that's a whole nother bag of worms

Thank you so much for the help; I watched a couple of Vids on YouTube yesterday and it seems pretty simple to do.

Just got it fixed; turns out that it was the slave and master cylinders that needed to be replaced. The fluid was grayish black and cloudy so we changed them and it runs like a champ again.
