manual transfer case
are all the bw1354 transfer cases from 1986 to current all compatible, like if i was gona put a manual transfer case on my 09 ranger would any of them from 1986 and up fit??because i see listings for like 86-93 and 04-07 and the ones 04-07 are 3 times the price as the ones listed 86-93 (probably just because they are newer)

BTW is your truck auto or manual? You'll run into another set of problems with the transmission extension housing if its a manual. You'll also probably have issues making your interior look stock with the manual transfer case shifter. |
thanks allot for your info, you are a big help to me and lots of others on here, and yes it is an automatic, but it is currently a 2wd so i still have to get a new output shaft for the transmission, and an extension housing, but i do have a front diff and steering knuckles from an explorer for the front and now i know what i have to have for a transfer-case, and front drive shaft, what years would work for the extension housing?? like from a 95-96 explorer work as well?? because i know where there is a 96 explorer that would be good for parts, and i would need a transmission output shaft for a 5r55e correct??

I found a manual transfer-case out of an explorer (pre 1993) at a real good deal, (probably a BW 1350), but it probably be worth putting in at a good deal, because it wouldn't be doing any real hard off roading, and when i find a 1354 i could always swap, or are they not even worth getting at a good deal?

if you put in a 1350, you will run into the issues im having....had to get a rear drive shaft out of a 94 4 door explorer, and am having a 86 bronco II front driveshaft shortened by a machine shop.(checked a lot of different rangers, broncos and explorers and this was the closest that fit out of any year) I probably should have just bought a 1354 from the get go...live and learn

make sure to get a 1994 case or newer as they have 6 planetary gears instead on the 93 version which only has 4. if it doesnt matter then cool but if your lookin for somethin a lil tougher go with that.
