manual transfer case repair
Im currently running a 1354m but ive developed some critical rear case damage at the flange and need a new rear half case.. Can somebody verify if a rear case half from an electric shift will bolt up to the manual case and guts? I can build up and plug the electric shift motor input hole easily enough, but i cant determine if any of my shift internals will interfere with the electric shift case half. My worst scenario is that there are incomplete machining done to the electric half that wont allow my manual components to be seated into certain bores. If i can remember though.. And i cant. I believe all the manual shift components are up front in the front half case and the main shift fork guide rod goes from front to back. The rod may likely be a universal component, so i imagine it may work but i suspect extra machining is done to the auto t case for some type of helical gear to actuate the forks on the guide rod.. In my case a boss is clearly visible pertruding from the rear case internally (bottom image) It is machined flat and i believe it only serves to keep the guide rod seated in the front of the case while assembled. Looking at my manual case i can clearly see the exterior of the manual and electric cases are the same. Except the manual case has the shift motor location un-machined. Ill post a pic so you can see the similarity.
