Yeah, I saw that right after I posted and revised my answer. The only other complication could be if the PCM will not recognize the 4Low input.

Are you sure you need a new cluster? If you have the original black 2002 cluster, it should have the indicators even if the truck started as a 2WD. Look at it under a strong light and you should be able to see them.

Also, you don't need the 4x4 Module at all to make the 4x4 indicators work with a manual case. Just wire the 2 switch pins to the 2 indicators and they will work.

Bob, you're the man. I'll have to look into it. Justin (Toreador4x4) and I have access to the wiring diagrams. Besides running the two wires from the case to the cluster, could you point out where we would need to check to see if the wires run to the PCM? Thank you!

In the factory 4x4 application, there are gray (4x4) and light blue/black (4x4 Low) wires that activate the indicator lights when grounded. These wires start at the cluster and go to either the 4x4 Module (electric t-case) or to the transfer case switch (manual t-case). Coming off the light blue/black wire (4x4 Low), a branch goes off to the PCM to tell it when to adjust the speedometer for low range. I don't know the location of the splice for the branch wire other than it is somewhere in the dash harness of the 4x4's. The LB/BK branch wire leaves the interior through the firewall connector near the parking brake, then goes through the large 42-pin engine harness connector and ends at the PCM connector. Hopefully, your 4x2 harnesses have that wire and the 4x2 PCM can read it.

I'm hoping it being an 02 Edge it'll have all wiring necessary. I guess I know my next project. Thank you Bob. This should be useful information for other too.

Update. I can say for certain now that my Level II swap is now complete. The final piece I was missing to have the job finished was the correct 180 degree speed sensor. I was having a difficult time finding one as I wasn't sure the part number I had was correct and none of the Ford dealerships could confirm the part number. I did find the correct one thanks to these helpful members RazorsEDGE, Scrambler82, and rwenzing. So if anyone else is looking for the correct Level II speed sensor the part number is 1L5Z-7H103-DA .

Sadly, you won't. Those parts have long since been discontinued and are now almost impossible to find. Worst yet, since the trim rings are made of cheap plastic, it's even harder to find a used set in good shape.

Your only bet to find them is in a wrecked truck.

The special rubber/steel floor plate for the 02/03 Ranger FX4 manual/manual is still available. Unfortunately, it is obsolete and very expensive. Expect to pay about $350 for that part alone.

Shift ***** can occasionally be found for about $80~100 each.

The plastic bezel and leather boots have not been available new for years. Finding them used in a salvage yard in any condition may not be easy. These parts were only available for two model years accounting for barely 1% of Ranger sales in those years.

FWIW, here are some part numbers:

2002~2003 Level II lower floor plate for manual/manual sticks:
2L5Z-7479-AB (confirmed)

Transmission Shift Ball:
1L5Z-7213-AA

T-Case Shift Ball:
1L5Z-7213-AB

Plastic shifter boot bezel:
1L5Z-7210-AD (superseded to 1L5Z7277AE)

5 SPD leather boot:
2L5Z-7277-AC

Transfer case leather boot:
2L5Z-7277-AD

On eBay:

floor plate: Ford Plate 2L5Z7479AB | eBay

5-speed shift ****: Brand New 5 Speed Manual Transmission Shift **** 2002 2011 Ford Ranger | eBay

T-case shift ball: Ford **** Gear Change Lever 1L5Z7213AB | eBay
