quick question...welll two

i cant shift into first until the speedometer has gone below 10mph....normal?

and also, ive noticed that sometimes if i sit at a light and leave it in neutral and foot off the clutch, it wont imedeately go into first, i have to drop it into second, then itll go into first......i dont get this one, hopefully nothings wrong with my tranny?

im new to manuals too, ive had the mazda for a week lol

does it grind going into 2nd? your shifting fork might be screwed up as well. or the slave could be going out.

Q1: 1st Gear lockout. so you dont accendentally shift into first when at speed and rev your engine to 10k+ RPMs. Its a built in saftey system.

Q2: My truck does this too. It does it almost everytime i shift so out of habit i always shift in 2nd then 1st when i drive. I assume it i syncros too, not a real big issue.
