I really like my little 2007 Ford Ranger. It developed a louder whining noise in the rearend about a month ago so before dragging the boat to the lake I wanted to have it looked at. I fear the worse . Checked the fluid level a couple weeks ago and found some small peices of, I believe, metal on the plug.

Some folks just can't understand how a man gets attached to his truck. Just sad.

man **** happens. sounds like you toasted a bearing. i would worry too much about it. i would however learn mechanics as a shop will rape you for that work.

Got a qoute one time for $800 to swap gears. buddy of mine will do it for a 12 pack of beer on a sunday.

Off topic, but do you happen to be a member on ARFCOM as well? I remember seeing a similar thread over there lol. Hope the truck gets fixed and it doesn't hurt the pocket book to bad

Its most likely a bearing. Sometimes they go bad inside of 20k miles, sometimes its 80k miles.
