i went to advanced the other day and the price between the zoom clutch and the regular clutch was 10 dollar difference and the guy said zoom is an awesome clutch.

I didn't get mad or anything i was just making fun of your post. |
I've heard a few times about specs disks coming apart in several different applications. 1 near stock LS1 F-body, one SRT4 neon (that was trying to win a burnout competition), and a handful of '03/04 cobras that had few miles on them.
I have a spec stage one in my '98 GT stang & it works fine although I think the pedal is heavier than it needs to be. It's a near stock car that doesn't get beat on much. I've been hearing very good things about RAM clutches, and considering their reputation and the application you are looking at this would be my recommendation. Any upgraded clutch isn't going to be as tolerant to being slipped to take off from a stop as the stock disk. You might want to look at doing that gear swap around the same time of the clutch upgrade. Let the gear do the work instead of the clutch and the clutch will live longer... |
Unfortunately, RAM only makes clutches up to 01 for the 4.0.
So whats the deal with Centerforce? I have one and it always grips even when i heat it up. I haven't had a problem with it. |
i have one in my 92 it is ok for muddin but on road it sucks. i have about 25k on it, and it just doesent grip on road especially when taking off that mofo spins i want something better.
|
Huh. Again no problems in mine and i have done a few launches in 4x4. I have to remember its not an AWD car.
Well good luck on your search. As far as i know, Spec, Centerforce and Zoom are the only ones that make clutches for your trucks. I have the same exact truck you do. |
