I have a 2003 4x4 xlt ranger.
i started the truck put it in drive and the shifter seemed like it was stuck between drive and 2nd it wouldnt go directly into drive after playing with it for about a minute straight i finally got it into drive.. and now it shifts into park but it is stuck between the park and reverse symbol on the display..

any suggestions??

I would check the shifter cable where it connects to the transmission. Maybe the cable is bound or something is jammed, etc..

Just a suggestion. I just got my Ranger so I don't know the trans that well. Maybe someone that knows it well can chime in. Once in drive does it drive normal or is it still acting up?

 

it drives great when its in drive or reverse. and ok i will do thanks alot!
