Need Tranny help QUICK

Ok so I put my newly rebuilt 5 speed tranny in my 96 Ranger 4x4. Its all in and filled and basically all put back together. When I try to engage a gear I cant get it into gear. I just started the truck up and was able to move it a few inches foward by HOLDING it in first gear. Then I opened my garage door and tried holding it in reverse and it went FOWARD!!

THe tranny came from an EBay auction from a seller named Kormex Transmission. It has a 90 day warantee but I sure cant let my truck sit while I wait for them to ship me a new one

Thanks
Dan

With the quick disconnect I dont think I have any problem with the clutch. I should be able to sit in the truck without it running and shift between the gears, correct? I didnt loose any fluid, but I will check into that.

Please keep them coming. I e-mailed the company and told them many people (ok so I exagerate) are waiting for results of this situation.

Turns out its stuck in a gear. I called Kormex today and they told me I can align the shift rods with a screwdriver. Im going to experiement with the old tranny first. Otherwise Im going to go in it from the top and end up making a new center console at the cabinet shop I work at. This has all been running through my head all day.

EDIT

SUCCESS!!!!! It was just what we thought. It was stuck in gear. The guy at Kormex told me I would have to adjust the rods at the top with a screwdriver. I did it to my old tranny first and then went ahead and did it to the new one.

Things seems very tight, Im sure its just going to take a little time. I plan on changing the fluid again in about a week, when I do the oil change I was going to do while I was doing the trans. Until then I dont want to get a wrench near my truck again.

Now if my wife would just give me the $1000 that I saved us
