need trany help

i have 2 rangers.First is a 90 with a 4.0.Does anyone know how to adjust the bands on the trany.I put new clutchs and bands in it but i dont know how to adjust them
Second is a 94 with a 4.0.It was running and shifting fine.it sat for a couple months and now it seems like the linkage is off.I disconect the linkage and manually shift it and still it does the same thing. It seems to go from park to neutral to drive.Could it be the selonoids on the valve body.Any help would be great.
