My 1993 Ranger with 3.0L 5-spd suffered a transmission problem when my brother started driving the truck. I took the truck back and decided to fix it buy replacing the transmission. I found another R-F member who had a M5OD-R1 from an 2002 Ranger. Bought it and compared the 2...everything look identical with the exception of the speed sensor...1 transmission had it at an angle and the other had it straight. And the 02 transmission takes some kind of different speed sensor compared to the early 90 models...installed the transmission and went to install the shifter and they changed the shifter on the newer models. so finally found a shifter and ordered it.. finally received it and installed it..i can only get the truck in 1st and 2nd gear...cant find 3rd, 4th, 5th, or reverse.... when i put truck in neutral and start the truck and start releasing clutch it stalls the engine... I havent checked fluids in transmission yet... i bled clutch but still doesnt seem to have much clutch pedal...but i drive a tractor-trailer so i could be use to that clutch and expecting there to be much more pedal than what there is.... has anyone else ran into this problem??

 

Did you make sure the transmission was In neutral before you removed it?
