Icon5 New engine

I have a 2000 Ranger XLT Sport with 191,000 miles. I had the tranny rebuilt about a year ago and I wonder how much longer the 4.0 engine will last. I love my Ranger and would like to keep it. How hard would it be to put a 5.0 L engine in my truck? Would I have to change the tranny or should I just rebuild the 4.0L?

Welcome to the forum

2000 will have the 4.0l OHV engine(1990-2000), 2001 and up had the 4.0l SOHC engine

4.0l OHV will last 400k, if you don't overheat them, if you do then you will have to replace the heads, so PULL OVER, if you start to see temp gauge climbing

Thanks. I guess I have a long ways to go on this engine.
