new rear axle defect

I just bought an aftermarket 8.8 28 spine axle off an ebay parts store ad finally got to the point of putting it it. Unfortunately The spines were milled so poorly that they will not slide into the gears (in the rear dif.) Has anyone had this kind of problem with aftermarket axles? I forget the brand, however it is the same one auto zone and napa carry...

I have an 03 ranger edge 4x4 btw

Do they have a return policy? If it isn't milled right I would return it or file a dispute.

I notice the country of manufacture is conspicuously missing on their page.

Oh I'm returning it, however they will only exchange not refund. I hope the new one works, but I don't have much faith. Why is it so hard to find a new Fing axle?

Now its a time issue, the truck is my DD and it has been off the road for 2 weeks now, looking like it will be another week before I find out if the new one is **** too. great.

Part is made in china, its also $107, lets just say I don't have a trust fund.

Regardless what return policy they offer, if it is not as described, I.e. a piece of **** instead of an actual axle, you can dispute it through eBay.

Why would you not go junkyard? Gates up in Hardwick VT has TONS of Rangers...hell I might even have a spare laying around.

BTW, if you do eventually find yourself going to a JY, the 7.5 is the same shafts as the 28 spline 8.8

The junkyards I called wanted mad bucks for a whole rear axle assembly or never called me back, so I sort of said f it. Besides I have this $100 tied up in this ebay seller and that is a very large proportion of the bucks that I have to spend on this project. It just sucks because I have to deal with this bs, meanwhile Im borrowing someones car to get to collage and they want it back asap. Grrrr....

If you need the vehicle as a DD it probably wasn't the best time to do such a major project. Unless it was blown up in the first place.

EDIT: nevermind...when you said axle i was thinking the whole rear assembly, not just the shaft. Yea the shafts should really only be a few hour project. At least with parts from a junkyard anyways. They might have been more expensive but they were OEM and probably alot closer. Who knows how long that Chinese Machined Piece of **** will last.

I hit some black ice on the interstate and crashed into the guardrail of a bridge, so the project was not voluntary. Killed 2 rims, 2 tires, 1 sway bar, 1 inner tie rod, and one rear axle shaft. Thats just the functional stuff, also need a parking light, fender and bumper but that stuff can wait. No collision on it else Id junk her.

ah the joys of being below the poverty level, lol
