PCM and Emissions

I cant seem to find any info on emissions standards in Georgia with regards to PCM change. I want to put a 5 speed in since my auto is going. Now i have a programmer (superchips Cortex) which is supposedly capable of flashing the auto PCM to function with the manual with no codes or limp mode. Anyone ever gotten this to work? It always asks me when i flash if the truck is manual so I'm assuming it does have this capability even though it reads my auto (to scared to flash it that way and see i need the auto to work for a while longer). Also if it doesn't and i do swap the PCM to a manual PCM will the different vin in the PCM cause an automatic emissions fail? ANy info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

You should be able to do either and the emissions should still pass. The transmission shouldnt have anything to do with that. I think your best bet would be to swap PCMs

Ok so after two days on the phone with the Georgia Clean air Force people they have stated that one of two things will happen. 03 was not a model year that required the VIN to be saved in the PCM so if i get lucky and the new manual PCM does not have a preprogrammed VIN in it then it will pass so long as the CEL light is not on. If I am unlucky (most likely) and it does have the VIN in the PCM then it will fail if it doesn't match the VIN on the dash. However there is a referee program that will recheck it and so long as the emissions components are still in place and functioning they will give a special sticker to show the emissions tester from then on. Their reasoning is that apparently there was a problem with people using different PCMs to get their cars to pass so non-matching vins is a red flag in the machine. Thought this info might help anyone considering swapping transmissions and or engines.
