output shaft and extension housing specs?

i have a newer 5r44e transmission from a 2wd 08 ranger and i havent verified a tag number on its case as of yet

will any 4x4 ouput shaft from any 5r55e be the same length and spline count to be switched into my 2wd 5r44e trans? i went to ford and they pulled up atleast 4 different 5r55e 4x4 shafts on their computer program and i have no clue what the difference would be cause they dont describe the difference in styles. they also pulled up a few extension housings for my 5r44e that were all different part numbers but i assume this would have been the revisions in the housings to adapt a sensor and bosses into it for a manual t case and manual tranny, but i cant tell from a part number which part has the additions i need. im trying to adapt a 1997 1354m ranger case for my sas, and i only need the ext, housing with the bolt holes and not the sensor hole. i dont want to order a bunch of parts that are not what i need.

thanks all,

For the time and effort involved. I would get a rebuilt 4wd trans.

Not sure if you are aware of how much work is need to get this shaft swapped in.

If you look though those pics i think you are better off selling your trans and putting the funds towards the 4wd trans.

its just that my trans is new with low km on it and ive got a buddy at the trans shop who said he could get the parts in and have it hung within a day. i just need to make sure i got all the correct parts. ive heard rumors in the past of a different output shaft but im not sure if i was imagining things. im soon ready to get my order in but i dont want to order the wrong stuff. i looked at that thread on another forum and like all the other threads nobody has a problem so far switching random shafts or just ran into a problem with a different year shaft for its spline/length etc. or extension housing issues. myself, i plan on ordering all new 08' extension housing, shaft, shifter, boot, and bezel, if i cant find them used. but the problem is there is 4 or more options of each part and it doesnt tell you why on their program. now i realize ford doesnt sort parts by year but by lots of random part trees of each component, and you need to know the specific tag numbers to determine what fits what. since im trying to match 08 components with 97 components i dont think ford can help me match those years with their programs so i think i just gotta guess from what ive been reading but i can make do with what i can find and weld up certain holes i dont need and chop off things that dont need to be there, but i just cant change bolt patterns or lengthen lengthen splines to reach as easy lol

lets say i basically need part number of;

-an extension housing for an auto 5r44e with bolt bosses and without a sensor location (mine doesnt have an oss sensor in the tail housing so maybe i dont need one for the auto) 97-08 (eg.(#FMC1L5Z7A039-CA) $223.57 with sensor location)
-output shaft that fits 97-08

or if somebody can just tell me if any housing with bosses, and a shaft from the junkyard from a 4x4
5r55e trans will work but maybe ill just need to weld up a sensor location if i cant find one without it

im also looking for the part numbers to;

- a newer 2 piece shift mech, boot, bezel, and all required accessory for whatever year as long as i can make it work in my 08 cab. say maybe an 02' fx4 level2 as partly seen in this thread;

https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...case-swap.html

(apparently there is 2 different linkages a bent and a straight piece) but in my case im not specific for any 1 linkage, anything will work as long as its usable with my auto trans and my extension housing

i found a link with alot of part numbers but i dont know what i can trust on it;
