Is this normal for a ranmger tranny

I just purchased a used 2008 ranger sport with 5500km only. I have been noticing that when backing out of my driveway, and then shifting into drive, that the auto tranny has a delay of a sec or two before it ingages. I have been careful not to bring the revs to high as this seems not right to me. Any idea if this is normal, or should I have it looked at?

I have an 05 escape that doesn't do this

there is a techical service bulletiin out for it

tell the service clerk that they have to look up the ford u.s website
( they have to look for it )

it is not on the ford of canada website

it is not on the just had mine done over 3 weeks ago

still a slight hesitation after you brake and the accelerate , but to me that is a non issue

This is was a problem in the 2005's I believe, at least mine had it . like cheese man said, they know how to fix it, but they charge you for it XD of course. Also that big "Clunk" when putting the truck in reverse on any kind of incline even when you never took your foot off the brake(putting weight on transmission). The fix for the clunk was I believe the lubricant in the slip yoke. They basically put the wrong kind in during assembly or something... If I remember correctly that is. They never get everything right making these trucks, even though not much has changed in design over what the last 10 years?

ENGAGEMENTS - PARK - DRIVE, NEUTRAL - DRIVE
AND NEUTRAL - REVERSE ENGAGEMENT

FORD:
2007-2010 Ranger

ISSUE
Some 2007-2010 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 2.3L engine and 5R44E transmission or 4.0L engines and 5R55E transmission may exhibit a delayed engagement when shifting from Park to Drive, Neutral to Drive and/or Neutral to Reverse.

Do you think this would cover the 3.0L also?

interesting. cos I get that delay in my 08 3.0 as well, and its pretty annoying, if you hit the gas too soon it stutters and screeches.

Can anyone send me a PM with the full print-out of this TSB that covers all three engines for this delayed engagement. I'm gonna take it to the local ford dealer and see what they say. I just want it as back-up if they try and tell me there are no TSBs dealing with this issue!

Thanks
