wet clutch help

i was wondering what do you guys that have the manual trucks do to keep water out of your tranny when you guys get in deep mud or water. or do you just jack the truck up higher and then go only as deep as the tranny

uhh...2wd in deep water? what? lol.

i stay out of deep stuff....but i have played in plenty of water without having my inspection rubber plug in the bellhousing...and have had no issues with a 'wet clutch'.

Are you sure the clutch is getting wet, rather than riding the clutch pedal and heating the hell out of the disc causing mass slippege?

its sounds as though your 99 might need a clutch bro. if its the original clutch, id definately say its in need of replacement. pm d about his centerforce setup that him and i installed in his truck. its worth the $ paid. if you do it yourself though, just make sure you remove the exhaust from the manifolds back to the point past the cat converter. if you dont, you wont be getting that tranny out! and when you go to remove the shifter from the tranny, just take the retaining nut off the base, and use a wooden dowel and tap the bolt out. its not fully threaded, just the end is for the retaining nut. use a good motorcycle jackstand if its a driveway job, as the tranny isnt all that heavy, but its awkward. i helped d with his, and had it on my chest under his truck, and lifted it into place as he put the bolts back in. like i said, not heavy, just awkward. up on a lift is the way to go bro.

BUT if you want a good grab and a lil bit of slip, the SPEC is way more offroad friendly when you need it to slip a little for rocks and hills. I heard bad things about the Centerforce DF on the trails. In my application, the Spec is the ONLY clutch worth putting in IMO...

either/or...both are a SH!ZZTON better than stock. lol.

Yeah my Centerforce hates being slipped. Next time will be a Spec.
