Vacume Hubs Gone?

Hey guys, I have a 1998 4.0 with the electonic shifting X-fer case. The case will switch into gear, and i have 4-lo gearing (if that makes sense) but only my rear tires are drivng but no front. Is it possible that the hubs are SNAFUed?
I did search, but it seams like no one describe what i have, just covering my bases.

Probably. Get these and you never have to worry about the vacuum hubs again.

Now as a side note, i have caps that cover my hub on my rims, is there any alternitave to these? I just dont want to have crome caps on the back and black ones on the front. the only thing i can think of is to keep them off on both ends, front and rear.

You could probably paint the rear caps. It wouldn't bug me enough to worry about it.

Yamaha service tech huh? I may need your help. LOL

I love it. Great power and it's comfortable. I almost went for the 450 but I'm glad I didn't.

I crashed it a couple of weeks back though.

I'm told the shocks I have shouldn't be on my bike. It's an 08 SE but it has front reservoir shocks. I'm trying to get the shock rebuilt but it's hard finding a good place to do it here in so cal.

If you dont want manual hubs then First thing to do is start at each hub and follow the vac. lines, its probably a leak in a line. I also have a 98 and my vac lines were falling apart, if I rubbed one then my fingers would be black.

For the manual hubs, I just took off the front center caps but, I cut a hole in one of them a tad bit bigger then the hub so I could reach in and turn them I just never finished doing the other so they just stay off.

Or you could get shafts out of an IFS explorer, they are splined and have no vaccum hub crap. The front end will alsayw be turning, but it will get rid of your problem.
