OD Off light flashes but only when itís cold outside

05 ranger 3.0 2wd.
The OD off light OCCASIONALLY flashes when itís cold outside. Pulling over shutting the truck off and turn it back on usually gets rid of it first try. Does my trans just slip a little when itís cold? Can this be corrected by letting my truck warm up to normal operating temp before driving? Or am I looking at whatís probably a bad sensor which is why it goes away after restarting the truck?

Welcome to the forum

The flashing OD light indicates transmission is not responding correctly to computers commands
You need to have the Transmission Codes read, WRITE THEM DOWN, exact numbers are needed, they will be P07xx or P17xx the xx specifies what computer "thinks" is the problem, not "knows" is the problem
Sensors rarely fail but are often replaced, just FYI

Get the codes and post them
You have a 5R44E transmission in a 2005 3.0l Ranger
They are good transmissions, been used since 1984.
