Is your truck 2wd? Because they don't put 3.55 in the 4x4. Anyway, a 3.73 would probably work, but 4.10 would be good as well...

4.10s would be fine. Not sure about the locker, but that's your choice I guess.

I'd go with 4.10s also. The no-slip, lockright, or aussie locker would all do nicely for you. If you can come up with a little extra cash, a detroit locker would be perfect since you are regearing anyways.

Those lockers are nice, but any locker can be bad news when you're towing. If you plan to tow with a locker, you'd better get a selectable one.

YES!!!! I had the same setup as you. 4.0 SOHC, 2WD, 3.55 gears, 32x11.50 BFG A/Ts. I regeared to 4.30 gears. Definitely increased my acceleration. Money well spent.

depending on the year they did.....a buddy of mine has them in his '96 4x4 extended cab 4.0......that isn't to say that they couldn't have changed in the newer Rangers....

4.10's would be good, BUT if you plan on towing quite a bit, then i too would get 4.30 gears, if not then 4.10s are your best bet......and would be well worth the money...

Well I am lookin at it with getting back to stock. I know that going from my factory tire size to a 31" tire, would require me to go to a 3.73 (org 3.55). So yeah, your right, 4.10 would be good...lol.

go with the 4.30 it will give you some more low end movement should make your truck faster than a snail. which I assume it is not faster than a snail right now when towing.

I have a no-slip in my truck right now and towed a u-haul all the way home to NY with no problems. So what are you refering to with towing and a locker being bad?

It is not always bad, but you're running a risk by doing it. With the added weight from the trailer it will put stress on the axle shafts and carrier. If you're negotiating a turn and the locker fails to unlock, your chances of snapping an axle shaft or breaking the carrier are doubled. This doesn't mean you will break something, just means your risk is greatly increased. Thats why is pays to have a selectable locker, so you KNOW it will be unlocked while negotiating a turn.

They will be higher than they are now but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Higher rpm's doesn't always mean lower gas mileage. Check out the tech section on 'therangerstation.com' they have alot of the gear ratio converters and charts on the appropriate power band for various set ups including running 32's and wanting to tow.

Calculate it out, the reason I went with 4.30s instead of 4.10s is that going 80 MPH I'm running only like 250 more RPMs over what 4.10s would be. Not sure if the 250 number is accurate, I did the math a long time ago, but it definitely wasnt a huge number.
