One Piece Shaft....Oh my?!

Well let me tell you its not as easy I had thought. I ran into a few things that really didn't help. First off taking the cross member off isn't easy. I had to use a persuasive hammer to get it move. I ran into a HUGE problem, the flang on the end of the drive shaft I bought was bigger than that of the one I have on my transfer case. So what I did is you know the middle u joint. I undid that and pulled that part out of the boot. I don't know if I'm explaining it right. But I swapped that out and put the flang on the other one. Ok I'm done trying to explain. I'm going to go and draw something to explain this whole thing.

Ok as you can see the circled part I took out and replaced the part that the arrow is pointing to.

That sucks that they are 2 piece shafts

you can remove the u-joint in the new shaft to get the larger flange off.....then do the same on the old shaft....then install the smaller flange on the new 1 piece driveshaft.....u-joints are the same, just the flanges are different....

get what I am saying:shrug:

no they aren't the same. The newer flang U joint is much bigger. i could even get the old the flange over the ends of the new U joint without the caps on the ends. There was still a good half inch before it would slide over. None the less I got it to work. I'll get some pictures when I get home from work.
