open diff to LS

Can you buy parts to make an open diff a limited slip diff, or do you have to swap out the rear ends? I don't want to get a locker since It's a daily driver and doesn't see much off road action.

$200 for a brand new L/S.....i would check out how much someone would charge you to install it though (if you can't yourself) you might find the cheaper route to be finding a L/S rear end in a salvage yard.

you'll also need new carrier bearings from ford and have them pressed onto the carrier as well as new races/shims. Would also be a good idea to replace the outer axle seals. I also bought new bolts for the ring gear, they come all together in 1 single bag.

You can find one at a junkyard but if it has around 80k or more, its very possible that the clutches have worn out and will need to be rebuilt.

thanks. As far as salvage yards, there's one near me that I know of, but it's very rare they get rangers in. It's usually full size trucks or cars and such, but I'll keep my eyes open.
