Pass Auto Hub Please HELP!!
Ok heres whats happening. Took both auto hubs off last night. The pass side was locked when I took it out and the drivers side was not. Installed them both unlocked and put it in 4wd. Both sides go in 4wd. But my pass side makes this loud squeaking noise. I take it out of 4wd and the squeaking continues. Figured out that when it put it in reverse and back up in 2wd that the squeaking stops.
So i just self diagnosed it and I know that I need new hubs. Cannot find ANYWHERE that sells the auto hubs. I have found the AMV how to and want to do it. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THE AMV MANUAL HUBS FROM? AUTO ONES BY CHANCE? Thanks in advance guys. Tim |

Hmm,
You should email them to see if they have them in stock. I know a couple of members on here had to wait like 2 months to get them |

One or two had "Shipping Now". I didn't know that they were on back order, since I can't order them (damn live axle).

They only make so many a year, then nothing at all. When AVM makes that quota, they stop making it till the next year. If you look on Tellco's website, it says First come first serve.

You'll love the manual hubs, I know I love mine. Simple to install too, just be patient

and i dont understand y I am suppose to install the amv hubs in the locked position. any ideas? |
Don't worry about it. The AVM's are much better than the factory automatic hubs.
But a few people have had them pop off with really hard use. Not hard to imagine, given how ford designed the hub. The essentially just "clip on" with friction clips. Like I said, I had no problems with mine, but other people have. Overall I prefer the live axle setup, but if I was in your shoes I would absolutely get the AVM hubs again. |
I was going to say dont go back to manual hubs, but you are getting the avms. yeah sometimes its a pain in the ass to get out and lock them but its nice to know that they are going to work when you need them. So you dont have to drive home 20 miles in 4 inches of snow in 2wd like i did in my dads f150 b4 he put manual hubs in it
|
I would buy manual hubs in a second to replace the automatic hubs in the F150, but nobody makes them. I'll take a manual any day, I'm just saying that the design Ford put together on the 98-00 ranger was garbage from the get go.

Yup, and now we are stuck with it *shakes fist*

watch when you put it on, because those clips can break fairly easy, since their plastic. A clip on mine broke when I put it on.

AVM FTW the price of 1 pulse vacuum hub is almost the same as a pair of AVMs. My avm's work great
