permanently locking vaccum hubs same as leaving manual locking hubs locked?
k so alot of this stuff is new to me and im really trying to understand it all. so if i do this- http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...04/offroad.htm, to my 2000 ranger, as far as the drivetrains basic operation, its basically the same as putting in manual locking hubs, and leaving them locked 100% of the time?

yes
you really want manual locking hubs though. Someone was texting me yesterday about it and he said he gained 2mpg when he went from this mod to manual locking hubs |
thanks. hubs is what im leaning towards... would all i need is the hub? and no other parts to make the swap?

Lock out hubs
I read all the threads on manual locking hubs for my 99 ranger, and when I bought a set of mile marker hubs I found out that my wheels would not fit over the hubs. Has anybody else ran into this? Do I have to machine my wheels to fit over my hubs, or does somebody make a set of locking hubs that will fit my factory wheels? Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum
AVM, also marketed as Rugged Ridge, made hubs to replace 1998-2000 Ranger PVH hubs Haven't heard of Mile Marker, does AVM make them? No, I wouldn't do anything to the wheels, you would be screwed if you got a flat and needed to put on a spare tire |
Lock out hubs
Good idea, Ron. I never thought of the spare tire thing.

There is a kit you have to buy besides the hubs. To change them from automatic to locking hubs.
